Eating on campus

Hungry? Here are a few tips with restaurants and cafes on campus. In fact, there are around 50 to 70 dishes available to you every day in all the dining halls. There should be something for every taste. However, a few of the dining options are still closed due to the pandemic.

Eating on campus

It is worth trying out the various dining options on campus.

  • Hauptmensa (North Campus): The Mensa is worth a visit if you need to eat quickly. There you can get a cheap meal, which you can choose from different menus. You can choose your side dishes freely from the ready-made bowls. There is also a buffet where you pay by weight.
  • Mensa Campus Süd: Somewhat smaller than the main cafeteria, but also more for a quick meal between two lectures. You often know the dishes from the cafeteria at the north campus. They are exchanged again and again.
  • Gallerie (North Campus): Here you can sit between lectures and drink a coffee or eat rolls. The gallery also offers a wide range of drinks. You can also get a hot breakfast or lunch burgers and other classics, which may take a while if it's crowded. You can get buns and other ready-to-eat food pretty quickly, though.
  • Food Fakultät (North Campus): For a meal in the food faculty you should bring time. Pizzas are freshly topped for you at the pizza counter before they go into the oven. Fresh pasta can be prepared at the pasta counter upon request. A selection of casseroles is also available if you need something quicker. Buns and cakes are also available there. The food faculty is open some of the longest on campus, though it's generally not as easy to eat on campus in the evening.
  • Archeteria (South Campus): The Archeteria has daily specials with a salad buffet. It also serves a variety of rolls and sandwiches. A chef at the Archeteria is said to make particularly good burgers.
  • Cafe C (North Campus): In the entrance of EF50 and in the building of the main cafeteria you can get snacks, cakes and hot drinks.
  • kostBar: Snacks, sandwiches and lunch menus are available between the UAS buildings on Campus North.
  • Cafe Che: In the foyer of the chemistry building, there are rolls to go.
  • Snack vending machines: Well, rather a kind of emergency food, but if it must go fast and the hunger is big, perhaps also the traditionally English packed triangular sandwiches taste. (Whereby they can be even quite tasty in England - here ... well). There are also drinks - at least they always taste the same. And you can also buy masks, menstrual products and plasters at the vending machines.
  • Water dispensers: There are water dispensers all over campus for sparkling, still and chilled water. Watch out for: Some of the buttons have an impressive delay.
  • Mensa ISM: If you're at the North Campus Computer Science Building, the walk is a little closer to the International Buisness School. The Mensa is its own, but its menu is also available in the TU app or via this page.

Current opening hours and other info are on the Studierendenwerk page (except ISM Mensa).

The best way to view the daily updated menus is the TU app.

Established off campus

If you have a little more time to eat, something off campus might be an option. Some off-campus restaurants have been around for a while. If your favorite restaurant is missing, we can add it to this list.

  • Uni-Falafel: At the last stop of the H-Bahn there are kebabs to go, freshly made. If you are lucky, the one table in the small shop on the ground floor is free.
  • Divan: Directly opposite the terminus of the H-Bahn in Eichlinghofen, kebab, pizza and co. are waiting for you.
  • Akropolis Grill: A typical Greek grill in Eichlinghofen.
  • Davids: Pizza, pasta, burgers and salads directly opposite Campus Süd.
  • Pizza Solino: A pizzeria in Groß-Barop just outside the North Campus.
